This week, I was the giddy recipient of two dozen, heavy duty garage springs, courtesy of a very, very special man who’d heard about my interest in spring suspension, similar to the stuff seen on JG Leather’s site, pictured at the right.
I’d been experimenting with some tighter, shorter springs, attaching them to my strap cage so that my vertically immobilized play partner could bounce a little. That’s the picture on the left. The bobbling was important because I was attaching ball weights to his scrotum and the bouncing added to the tension.
Eventually we got up to 10 lbs. of weight (not including the 12 oz. stainless steel stretcher they were connected to). It was a pretty agonizing load (hence the foot support while I framed my shot). Afterwards, he told me that as soon as it was over, he found himself wishing he’d taken more. Ahh, masochists!
Next time, babe.
Anyway, now I have all these springs and I’m totally fantasizing about…
Well, lemme go back a sec.
I was chatting with Axe the other night and happened to show him a link to RigidCuffs as well as the Clejuso handcuffs I’ve been coveting. On my way to RigidCuffs, I stopped by SeriousBondage.com and saw the image included with the “You Are Not Alone” article. (If you can’t get to the picture, which I can’t seem to figure out how to post here, it’s a fully encased body, strapped down and bound to a full-length padded plank in the middle of an empty room.)
So I have this fantasy … I want to build a floating bondage table of sorts. Wood, lightly padded, covered in leather. It’d have bondage points all along the perimeter. I’d bind someone to it, almost exactly like the SeriousBondage picture … except instead of leaving the body in the middle of the floor in an empty room, I’d suspend the body/plank with my new springs. Any twitch or fidget would create a light bounce … and in that hypersensitivity you can only get from good sense dep, I imagine that slight movement could be soothing … or it could feel like an earthquake. Maybe it’d be like being back in the womb of your mom-in-motion. I just think it’d be super cool.
Now I just need the bondage table. Any carpenters or engineers with suggestions? I think it’s something I could probably build myself, but I just want to make sure the architecture’s safe.
Mmmm. Want. Drool.
In the meantime, I’ll be experimenting with my new springs and the suspendable body bags this weekend.
And, oh yeah, Happy Spring!
I respectfully beg to differ on the subject of the “floating abandonment”. It is IMHO different from the scene pictured in seriousbondage. In the seriousbondage scene, whatever the bottom does elicits no response whatsoever. He is rigidly bound, and his bonds do not give even an inch. And there is nothing and nobody to act/respond/stimulate him. It is a case of intense solitude and abandonment.
The scene you envisage is very different because the bottom has mobility as springs respond to his actions. Of course, this is only temporary “give”, and the springs soon revert to their original position. But this enables the bottom to have almost a dialogue with the springs. To have rythm, to alternate active and passive phases. To try intensity Vs duration. To feel fear and the need for self-retraint, because, if he does “succeed” in overpowering the springs, will he not fall and hurt himself?
Now I am not saying that this latter scene is not highly interesting and appealing, only that is is an “active” scene, quite different from the “passive” space depicted in seriousbondage.
Regarding the bondage implement you need to materialize your scene, how about this, also known as a spinal stretcher:
http://firstar.en.alibaba.com/product/50406279/200458292/Stretcher_Suction/spinal_stretcher.html
IMHO it offers quite a few bondage possibilities…:-))
Oooh. Now THAT is some great feedback, philber. I love the idea of the bottom have a conversation with the springs. How profound the isolation must be to bring one to that!
(That seriousbondage pic got you a little hot, didn’t it? Yeah. Me too.)
The way I envision this, there wouldn’t be any flipping or upsetting the apple cart: Springs would be attached with carabiners at the four corners, then two along each side. The body would be tightly bound to the table with either ratchet straps or bondage straps.
And that spinal stretcher … yeah. That’d do the trick. It doesn’t look all that, you know, dungeon-y but what does appeal to me are all the ventilation holes underneath which would allow the body to breath a little.
Which means it could stay longer.
This weekend you say!!!
I hope this doesn’t count as an email or I’m over the limit!! Yikes.
Whizzer
Oh yeah, thanks a lot for corrupting me with those images by the way. I can’t look at anything made out of metal without getting pervy images in my head.
Who knew springs could be so hot.
Oh yeah, you did.
The abandonment/sensory deprivation kink is one I’ve always wanted. The problem is it would probably take 5-6 hours to have a real effect and with the prices pro-dommes charge, its too expensive. I bet that almost all of the secenes Pro Dominatrices work with are of the 1-2 hour type.
LMPest,
All of my scenes are at least two hours; many, possibly most, are four hours or longer. Extended immobilization is quite possible and happens. Often.
Because I love extended bondage scenes and try to do as many of them as I can, I offer a flat Tribute experience where my client and I can play for as long as we both can last without worrying about the clock.
And, btw, regarding “the prices pro-dommes charge”? The sleepsacks and straitjackets I use for my extended bondage scenes have a combined value of $5000. The leather hoods I use average about $300/ea. and I have at least 10. I have more than $4000 in electrical equipment, including a Venus2000. And I’ve got a 1BR apartment on Fifth Ave in New York City that I use EXCLUSIVELY for play. At minimum a client is accessing SEVERAL thousands of dollars in real estate and gear to realize this amazing scene, which also happens to be a lifelong fantasy. Not to mention I’ve got years of active training and practice under my belt from some of the best professionals in the scene and out to make sure the people I play with don’t end up in a coma and my pictures all over the goddam tabloids. Whatever it costs to session with me, the value is priceless.
Which is to say, if you think we charge too much, might I suggest you buy your own equipment (there’s a very nice lady on Ebay that sells PVC-lined, cheap leather bodybags for around $300 … she says they’re suspendable, though the bondage points do tend to detach easily) and hire a nice girl off Craig’s List that suits your budget to look after you and see where you end up.
Best of luck to you.
Yikes, someone got up on the wrong side of the bondage bed. What happened to that March 23rd post of yours that you wanted to hear what readers were thinking about? Made only in the rhetorical sense?Well, it is your blog, Mistress, write whatever you want and I’ll nod my head and agree! And best of luck to you, too!
LMPest,
You stated your piece, I responded. I AM happy to hear your thoughts … but just understand that if you say something that offends me, I reserve the right let you know. So I did. You can take your ballweights and go home if you like. Or you could admit you made some egregious generalizations and apologize for pissing me off. Or you could say I misunderstood you. Or that you think my position is unfair because ______.
But please don’t pout. Please.
Louie, it does not take hours for abandonment to take effect, but seconds (if it is well done). Assuming full sensory deprivation, I find my senses trying to get any glimpse of “the outside”. Is she there? What is she doing? What is happening? This is a hypersensitive state, when I lose all sense of time. Which results in my having been wrong by many hours as to the real length of a scene, as opposed to the one I felt. Alternatively, as there is no discernible “outside”, I turn to the “inside”, and my bondage acquires a home-like quality, where I gradually “inhabit” this highly constricted space much like one gets used to the very limited space afforded on long-distance economy-class flights.
This is where the type of bondage and its minutes details make huge differences to the space I am in.
What it all boils down to, is that this is all about quality, not quantity. I have reasonably serenely survived 3 days in bondage, but gone up in smoke after less than 90 minutes. And when I recall very long sessions, of which I had a few, there are usually some moments that stand out vividly, not any protracted length of time. Mostly, when the Domme demonstrates what she intends to do, and I go into shock, thinking I’d rather climb the Himalayas:-)
Oh wow, floating bondage table on springs. You are brilliant. I wonder if it’d be possible to do that with the floating bondage table at L’Oeil…
MVX,
Pretty sure you could do it. And I sent a springs bouquet over there so give it a whirl…
oh shit, you’re killing me. The photos in that “You are not alone” article were amazing.
Fair enough!
I understand why a spring-mounted bondage platform feels like the ultimate in sensory deprivation. Floating must be the most perfect disconnection from the outside world, hence the most intense feeling of abandonment and sensory deprivation (ASD), right?
Very intense, no doubt. The most intense, I am not so sure. There are, IMHO, other stimulators (or generators)of the feeling of ASD.
Imagine a person chained to the wall of a cell (aptly called in France an “oubliette”, where one is “forgotten”), with no sight or sound from the outside world. Or a person strapped in a straitjacket and locked in a soundless padded cell. How about a person suspended inside a hanging mailsack? Who is the “most” abandoned?
There are, again IMHO, 2 “basic” situations of helplessness. One, when no movement is possible, the other when movement is possible, but to no avail.
Just as there are different types of bondage: to be bound “with” something, to be bound “to” something, and to be bound “inside” something.
The posture of the bound person also plays a very important part. Bound on one’s back, or sitting down (or up!), or standing, when the body desperately wants a change.
How about sound. Which is the most isolating: total silence? White noise? Constant pings (the sonic equivalent of the Chinese drop of water)?
What is more disorienting: no food (for example), or food at vastly different time intervals so as to befuddle any sense of passing time?
All these situations create a vast number of possibilities, and I have no idea which one generates the “most intense” ASD.
That is what makes the prospect of new experiences so irresistible.
